Wind Energy in Malta can contribute a significant proportion to the country’s 10% renewable energy target of 2020. The Ministry for Resources and Rural Affairs is proposing the developed of one offshore wind farm at Is-Sikka l-Bajda and another two smaller onshore wind farms at Wied Rini (limits of Baħrija) and Ħal far. Details of these projects are provided in the Project Description Statements below. These projects are vital to enable Malta achieve compliance with EU policies and to strengthen the country’s energy supply through an environmentally friendly and sustainable source.
